The Royal Air Force, having already confirmed its participation by way of the Red Arrows (Sunday only) and the Tucano in the flying display programme, has informed us that for static display there will be an additional Tucano from RAF Linton-on-Ouse, a Beech King Air B200 from RAF Cranwell, 2 Hawk T.1's from RAF Valley and at least two Tornado GR4s from RAF Lossiemouth, in Scotland.

Another nation has been added to this year’s record number of participating countries. The Hellenic Air Force has confirmed in writing that it plans to participate with an F-4 PI 2000 Phantom from Andravida Air Force Base in Greece at this year’s Malta International Airshow.

The Czech Air Force has officially confirmed participation with an L-159 advanced, multi-role combat aircraft in the flying display programme and a CASA 295 to support the display. The Malta International Airshow is proud that the F/A-18 Hornet Solo Display from the Swiss Air Force will be embracing Malta's skies in September. After the successful participation of the Swiss AF PC-7 Team in 2006 and 2011, the Swiss AF has confirmed that this year they shall participate in the Malta International Airshow with the F/A-18 Hornet Solo Display. This is a first for Malta in having an F/A-18 in flying display and also having a fighter aircraft from the Swiss AF.

The Malta International Airshow 2014 will be held on September 27th and 28th. This was announced by the Malta Aviation Society who also said that preparations for next years airshow are in full swing as contacts are being made with various air arms and commercial companies within the sector.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has accepted the invitation made by the MaltaAviation Society (MAS) to participate with a boeing E-3A airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft on static display for the Malta InternationalAirshow 2013. After last year's succesful participation with the E-3 having crowds to visit the aircraft all day long the Malta Aviation Society is really grateful with NATO's acceptance to participate.

The Italian AF will be participating in this year's edition with the Malta based AB-212 of the Italian Military Mission. The detachment main role is to help the Armed Forces of Malta in training and rescue operations. The crew is formed by both Italian and Maltese personnel.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows will not be displaying today after the team experienced technical difficulties on their way to Malta and diverted into a military base in Sardegna.

The Malta International Airshow is in full swing in its latest preparations for this weekend's airshow at Malta International Airport. Most of the aircraft are on the ground except for the Red Arrows. The team experienced technical difficulties on their way to Malta and diverted into a military base in Sardegna. The team's engineers are currently doing their very best to have the aircraft serviceable again but it is not yet known if the Red Arrows will be able to perform in Malta.

As much of you are aware we have had some cancellations reasons are as follows. The RAF BBMF C-47 display has been cancelled due to recent technical difficulties for long flights over water. The RAF Grob Tutor display has been cancelled due to a fleet-wide temporary grounding.

The Malta International Airshow will this year host a newcomer to the Malta airshow scene. A Qatar Emiri Air Force C-130J will participate in the static display and this also marks the first-ever visit by a Qatari Hercules to Malta. The C-130J is the newest version of the famous C-130 Family and the C-130 J is nicknamed the Super Hercules.

Airshow gates on the Hal Farrug Road will open at 10am and close at 5.30pm. Entry tickets to the show are available at €12 per person, and children under 14 enter for free if accompanied by an adult. The static display of aircraft starts at 10am and continues till 5.00pm where the public can speak to the crew of the aircraft in the line-up. The flying display starts at 1.30pm and closes with the Red Arrows display at around 4pm on both days. Food and drink stalls are available.

The Armed Forces of Malta confirms the participation both in the static display as well as in the flying display programme, through its very capable Air Wing. Included in the flying display repertoire shall be the Hawker Beechcraft B.200 King Air Maritime Patrol Aircraft and the Alouette III helicopter. Both assets shall be on static display as well, accompanied by a Britten Norman BN-2B Islander and Bulldog primary training aircraft.

The Italian Military Mission in Malta will be the sole Italian AF participation for this year's event. The detachment is formed by 2 AB-212 helicopter's primarily used for the Search and Rescue operations in Malta. The AB-212 is flown by a joint Italo-Maltese crew and the detachment has been in Malta since 1973 helping in training and in operations with the Armed Forces of Malta.
