The German Navy has confirmed that it will be participating in this year's Airshow with a Dornier 228MR coming from Marinefliegergeschwader 3 (MFG3) based at Nordholz.

The Malta International Airshow is adding at least to more items in the flying display programme for Sunday in place of The Red Arrows that have now confirmed that they will be unable to reach Malta in time for Sunday’s afternoon display.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows will not be displaying today after the team experienced technical difficulties on their way to Malta and diverted into a military base in Sardegna.

The Malta International Airshow is in full swing in its latest preparations for this weekend's airshow at Malta International Airport. Most of the aircraft are on the ground except for the Red Arrows. The team experienced technical difficulties on their way to Malta and diverted into a military base in Sardegna. The team's engineers are currently doing their very best to have the aircraft serviceable again but it is not yet known if the Red Arrows will be able to perform in Malta.

The Malta International Airshow 2012 takes place this weekend 29th and 30th September. Six countries shall participate namely, Malta, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, United States & Qatar for the first ever time, NATO will also be participating.

As much of you are aware we have had some cancellations reasons are as follows. The RAF BBMF C-47 display has been cancelled due to recent technical difficulties for long flights over water. The RAF Grob Tutor display has been cancelled due to a fleet-wide temporary grounding.

The Malta International Airshow will this year host a newcomer to the Malta airshow scene. A Qatar Emiri Air Force C-130J will participate in the static display and this also marks the first-ever visit by a Qatari Hercules to Malta. The C-130J is the newest version of the famous C-130 Family and the C-130 J is nicknamed the Super Hercules.

Airshow gates on the Hal Farrug Road will open at 10am and close at 5.30pm. Entry tickets to the show are available at €12 per person, and children under 14 enter for free if accompanied by an adult. The static display of aircraft starts at 10am and continues till 5.00pm where the public can speak to the crew of the aircraft in the line-up. The flying display starts at 1.30pm and closes with the Red Arrows display at around 4pm on both days. Food and drink stalls are available.

This year Air Malta will take an active part in the Malta International Airshow and will participate with an Airbus A320 aircraft. The air show, now in its 20th edition, will be held on the 29/30th September at Malta International Airport.

The United States Navy has confirmed participation with a P-3C Orion coming from Patrol Squadron 9 the Golden Eagles. VP-9 is based in Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The Royal Navy's latest fixed wing addition, the Avenger T.1, shall be participating in this year's airshow static line up. It will be the first time ever the aircraft shall be displayed outside the United Kingdom, after it's first ever public appearance at RAF Leuchars, Scotland, two weeks before Malta’s airshow.

The United States Air Forces in Europe is sending a C-130 Hercules from the 86th Airlift Wing based in Ramstein, Germany. The C-130J is the newest version of the famous C-130 Family and the C-130 J is nicknamed the Super Hercules.

The Armed Forces of Malta confirms the participation both in the static display as well as in the flying display programme, through its very capable Air Wing. Included in the flying display repertoire shall be the Hawker Beechcraft B.200 King Air Maritime Patrol Aircraft and the Alouette III helicopter. Both assets shall be on static display as well, accompanied by a Britten Norman BN-2B Islander and Bulldog primary training aircraft.

The Italian Military Mission in Malta will be the sole Italian AF participation for this year's event. The detachment is formed by 2 AB-212 helicopter's primarily used for the Search and Rescue operations in Malta. The AB-212 is flown by a joint Italo-Maltese crew and the detachment has been in Malta since 1973 helping in training and in operations with the Armed Forces of Malta.
